PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior forward Leti Lerma (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after helping the Bradley women's basketball team to a pair of road victories last week.

Lerma averaged 13.5 points on 55 percent shooting and also averaged 10.0 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game in two road wins to wrap up the non-conference portion of the schedule.  After battling foul trouble in the first half at Valparaiso, she collected six points, eight boards, one assist and one block in the second half en route to eight points and nine rebounds in the 67-56 win against the Crusaders.  Lerma turned in her third double-double of the year with a season-high 19 points on 8-for-13 shooting along with 11 rebounds in a 65-56 win at Illinois-Chicago.  She moved into 10th in career rebounding at Bradley with her effort against the Flames Thursday.  A psychology major, Lerma owns a 3.16 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Lerma and the Bradley women's basketball team open Missouri Valley Conference play Sunday, Jan. 1 at I-74 rival Illinois State (2 p.m.).
