Sophomore David Shadid of the Bradley track team broke his own school record in the 400m dash, highlighting day one at the Gladstein Invitational on Friday night. An additional five student-athletes set personal-best marks at the meet hosted by Indiana University.

Shadid finished third in the 400m dash fast section, clocking a time of 48.52 to top his previous record of 49.36. The sophomore set the record for the third time in his two years on campus with the previous standard holding for 36 years.

"It was a great start to day one at Indiana," said Bradley head coach Darren Gauson. "It started with a school-record performance by David before Patrick Campbell and Jake Hoffert had fine runs in the 3K. Haran Dunderdale finished first among collegiate runners in the mile with the leading MVC performance. We also saw nice progress from Hannah Witczak and Rachel Sudbury on the women's side."

Junior Haran Dunderdale turned in his second-straight strong performance to help lead the men's team. One week after setting the school record in the 800m run, Dunderdale posted the second-best performance in school history in the mile run with a time of 4:05.14, finishing second overall and first among collegiate runners. His time is the best in the MVC this season and would rank as the 12th-best time nationally, prior to this weekend.

Overall, four Braves set personal-best times on the night with three recording top-five finishes. Senior Patrick Campbell placed fifth in the 3,000m run with a time of 8:16.96 – just missing his career-best time by 1.54 seconds. Campbell was closely followed by freshman Jake Hoffert, who placed sixth in his first career running in the 3,000m with a time of 8:17.00.

On the women's side, junior Hannah Witczak and senior Mackenzie Griffin set their career-best times in the 3,000m run for the second-straight week to lead the Braves. Witczak won the event with a time of 10:12.73, while Griffin placed third with a time of 10:15.83.

Additionally, senior Rachel Sudbury placed ninth in the mile run fast section, clocking a time of 4:58.17.

The Braves wrap up competition at the Gladstein Invitational on Saturday with day two set to begin at 10:30 a.m.
