Game Recap: Women's Basketball |
CHARLESTON, Ill. – Bradley led from wire-to-wire, scoring the first 13 points of the contest and never looked back as the Braves cruised to a 67-52 victory at Eastern Illinois Tuesday for the first road victory of the season.

Senior Anneke Schlueter scored a season-high 18 points to go with three assists and a career-best eight rebounds, while fellow senior Danielle Brewer joined her in double figures with 13 points.  Brewer hit three-of-six three-point attempts to help Bradley match a season-high with eight three-pointers.

The Braves dominated the glass, holding a 60-35 rebounding advantage which included 23 offensive boards.  Seven BU players had five or more rebounds in the contest and Bradley held Eastern Illinois to just 27 percent shooting.

Bradley (5-3 overall) scored the first 13 points of the game and led by as many as 14 in the first quarter.  The Braves hit three consecutive three-pointers during the opening salvo with Schlueter, Brewer and sophomore Chelsea Brackmann each knocking down a shot from long range during the spurt to open the contest.  Brackmann collected seven points and five rebounds in the opening 10 minutes.

The second quarter started much like the first with Bradley scoring the first eight points of the period to extend the lead to 28-7 just over two minutes into the frame.  The Braves took advantage of EIU foul trouble in the second quarter, going to the charity stripe 12 times in the second.  Eastern Illinois was scoreless for a near six-minute stretch in the period, allowing Bradley to take a 37-19 lead at the break.

Eastern Illinois (1-6 overall) opened the second half with a little spurt to pull cut the Bradley lead to 13 (39-26), but the Braves got a jumper by Brewer and a Schlueter three-pointer to extend the advantage back to 18.

Bradley held a 51-36 lead heading to the fourth quarter and put the contest out of reach with a 7-0 run to open the fourth.  Schlueter assisted a Vanessa Markert hoop to open the period and Brewer followed an EIU turnover with a pair of free throws.  A Madison Dellamuth pull-up jumper pushed the lead to 57-36 with 7:15 to play and a Markert free throw with 6:35 left on the clock matched the largest lead of the night for Bradley at 58-36.  The Braves claimed their third consecutive road victory in the series with the 67-52 win as Bradley won at EIU for the fifth time in six road games.

Schlueter moved into the top 25 in career scoring at Bradley with her season-best 18-point effort, climbing five spots on the BU scoring chart and now has 848 career points.

Brackmann added eight points and eight rebounds to help pace the Braves.  Dellamuth dished out a career-best seven assists to go with four points and five rebounds.

Jennifer Nehls scored 13 of her game-high 19 points in the third quarter to lead Eastern Illinois.
