FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. – Freshman
Taylor Ledwein (New Prague, Minn./New Prague) picked up right where she left off in the fall, pacing the Bradley women's golf team on day one of the Amelia Island Collegiate Monday in the first action of the spring for the Braves.
Ledwein is tied for 23
rd overall at the par-72 Amelia National Golf Club at six-over 150 after carding rounds of 74 and 76. She now has a team-best 17 sub-80 rounds on the year and has carded 14 consecutive for the sixth longest streak in program history. Ledwein enters Tuesday's final round four shots out of the top 10 and one stroke out of the top 20.
As a team, Bradley was eight shots better in the afternoon and carded a second-round 306 after opening the spring slate with a 314 in the morning round. The Braves are 16
th overall at 620, 11 shots from the top 10.
Sophomore
Frankie Saban (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) had a strong start to the spring campaign as well, firing a pair of 77's. Saban, who is tied for 51
st at 154, turned in her best 36-hole stretch since the opening two rounds of the MVC Preview in early October.
Florida native
Chloe Horton (Coral Gables, Fla./Ransom Everglades) had the lowest second round score on the team with a three-over 75 to wrap up the opening day of the spring. She had a first-round 80 and is one back of Saban in a tie for 53
rd at 155 heading into the final round.
Junior
Ally Scaccia (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) also took five shots off her first round performance and carded a 78 in the second round. Scaccia is tied with fellow junior
Grace Henderson (Peachtree Corners, Ga./Blessed Trinity), who is in the field as an individual, for 79
th at 161. Henderson matched a season-best with a 77 to start the day's action.
Sophomore
Brooke Thompson (Jefferson City, Mo./Jefferson City) rounds out Bradley's lineup and had the biggest improvement among the Braves in the second round. She was six shots better in the afternoon with an 82 and is 95
th overall 170.
The final round of the Amelia Island Collegiate is scheduled to tee off at 7:30 a.m. (CST) Tuesday.
