SPRING, Texas -- Junior Ethan Brue had the low round of the day for the Bradley men's golf team with a one-over 73 and missed a sixth consecutive top-10 finish by one stroke as he helped lead the Braves to a tie for seventh at the Colin Montgomerie Houston Baptist Invitational.

Bradley shot 302 as a team to slip into a tie for seventh in the 13-team field with a three-round total of 885 for the 11th lowest 54-hole score in program history in the team's first outing of the spring.  The 21-over 885 at the par-72 Traditions of Cypresswood Golf Course marked the third time in six tournaments in 2016-17 the Braves shot 885 or better.

Brue had placed in the top 10 in each of his first five tournaments as a Brave, but missed the top 10 in the field by one stroke.  He tied for 12th overall at 218 after closing out action with a one-over 73 for his seventh consecutive round of 75 or better.

Sophomore Drake Bushong turned in the 50th sub-80 round of his Bradley career in Tuesday's final round, carding a 76 to tie for 22nd overall at 221.  Bushong, who tied for 17th at last year's event, had a streak of eight consecutive top 20 showings snapped, falling one shot short of the mark.

Redshirt sophomore Daniel Lensing finished out his first 54-hole tournament in nearly a year and a half by matching his second round score of 76 to tie for 36th overall at 224.  Fellow sophomore Branden Mounce was two back of Lensing in a tie for 44th overall at 226 after shooting an 80 Tuesday.

Redshirt junior Zach Jewell rounded out the team scoring for the Braves with a final round 77 and tied for 57th (229).

Louisiana-Monroe claimed the top spot in the team standings at 870 to edge second-place Central Arkansas (874) by four shots.  Stephen F. Austin was five shots off the pace in third at 875, while Houston Baptist (4th - 879) and Nicholls State (5th - 882) rounded out the top five.

Texas-Rio Grande Valley finished one shot ahead of Bradley in sixth at 884, while the Braves tied with Western Illinois and Abilene Christian for seventh (885).  The trio were comfortably ahead of 10th-place Incarnate Word (899) in the 13-team field, which also included South Dakota (11th – 903), Weber State (12th – 905) and Nebraska-Omaha (13th – 928).

Bradley will have two weeks off before returning to Texas for the Bradley Spring Break Invitational at Brookhaven Country Club in Dallas, Texas, March 13 & 14.
