HUNTSVILLE, TX - On a cold, wet day at Don Sanders Stadium, host Sam Houston State banged out 22 runs on 27 hits to take both games of a doubleheader Saturday and complete a 3-game series sweep against visiting Bradley (3-6).

The Bearkats (8-4) rolled to a 14-7 win in Saturday's opener and then finished off the series with an 8-2 victory in the nightcap.  Blake Chisolm was the day's hitting star, going 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI's in Saturday's first game, then 2-for-2 with a double, a triple in the second game.  Chisolm also walked once and was hit by two pitches, reaching base in seven of his eight plate appearances for the day.

Bradley did blast three home runs in the opener.  Ian Kristan's third of the season in the first inning staked the Braves to a quick 2-0 lead.  Derek Bangert added his fourth home run of the year and Andrew Ivelia his first as a Brave.  Making his first career start, sophomore 2B Christian Dominguez was 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Bangert (2-4) and Kristan (2-5) also finished with two hits.

In a back-and-forth affair, Sam Houston State took the lead for good, 7-6, with an unearned run in the fifth, then broke the game open with a 5-run outburst in the sixth.

Chisolm legged out a 1-out triple in the second inning of game two and scored on a ground out to put the Bearkats in front for good.  They added four more runs in the fourth for a 5-0 lead.

Andy Shadid's bases-loaded hit by pitch in the sixth got the Braves on the board and seventh inning doubles by Dan Bolt and Luke Mangieri pulled the Braves to within 5-2.  In his first career start, Bolt was 2-for-4 as the left fielder.  Kristan and Ivelia each went 2-for-3 with a walk.

Bradley returns to action with another tough road series next weekend, visiting Mercer (8-3) for a 3-game series in Macon, GA.
