ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Senior forward Leti Lerma (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine) was named a First-Team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection in addition to landing spot on the Valley's All-Defensive Team, while freshman forward Chelsea Brackmann (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) earned MVC All-Freshman Team honors according to an announcement by the league office Wednesday.

Lerma is the first Bradley Women's Basketball player to earn First-Team All-Valley honors since Monica Rogers in 2008-09 and is the third individual in program history to earn first-team all-league honors and a spot on the all-defensive team in the same season, joining Tammy Van Oppen (1996-97) and Heather Best (1998-99).

Brackmann gives Bradley its first MVC All-Freshman Team selection since Lerma earned the distinction as a freshman in 2013-14.

The top rebounder in the MVC at 10.6 boards per game, Lerma also paces Bradley in scoring at 11.6 points per game.  She upped her averages to 13.4 points and 11.6 rebounds per outing in Missouri Valley Conference play.  Lerma's 298 rebounds this season rank as the third-best season total in school history and she is 11 from breaking the school mark.  She broke the Bradley career rebounding record Feb. 26 at Southern Illinois and is 23rd in MVC history with 818 career boards.

This season Lerma has recorded a conference-best 11 double-doubles for the third-best total in school history.  In addition, she is two rebounds from becoming just the fourth MVC player in the last 20 years with 325 points, 300 rebounds, 55 assists, 15 blocks and 35 or more steals.  Lerma averaged 18.5 points, 14.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game in home games against Southern Illinois and Evansville to earn MVC Player of the Week honors (Jan. 30).

After missing the Feb. 12 game at Drake with an injury, Lerma returned to the lineup to average 18.8 points on 53 percent shooting to go with 10.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and nearly two steals per game in the last five outings.  She is 14th in the country in rebounds per game and Lerma is 12th nationally in offensive rebounding with a school season record 121 offensive boards.

Brackmann started 11 regular-season games for the Braves and is averaging 8.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.  She is eighth in the MVC in rebounding in 2016-17 and set Bradley freshman records for rebounds (192), free throws made (84) and free throws attempted (128).

In Valley games, she averaged 7.6 points and was fourth in the league at 8.2 rebounds per tilt.  Brackmann recorded both of her double-doubles in MVC play, including season-best efforts of 23 points and 19 rebounds at Indiana State which helped her garner MVC Newcomer of the Week honors on Jan. 9.

She is third in the Valley in blocked shots with 30 and is one of just two freshmen in the country with 225 points, 190 rebounds, 40 assists, 30 blocks and 15 or more steals this season.  In fact, she is the only freshman in the MVC to reach those numbers since at least the 1995-96 campaign.

The Bradley Women's Basketball team will face #10 seed Loyola Thursday at 7 p.m. in the opening round of the MVC Tournament at the iWireless Center in Moline, Ill.
