PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley Women's Golf will spend spring break in Texas for the second consecutive year, hosting the Bradley Spring Invitational Monday and Tuesday at Brookhaven Country Club in Farmers Branch, Texas.
Nine other teams will join the Braves at the par-71 Brookhaven Country Club for the 54-hole tournament which will get underway Monday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Tuesday's final round will also feature a 9 a.m. shotgun start. BradleyBraves.com will provide links to live stats via Birdiefire.com
Five other Missouri Valley Conference schools make up half of the 10-team field with Drake, Illinois State, Indiana State, Southern Illinois and Wichita State slated to play. Akron, Arkansas State, Northern Illinois and UT-Dallas make up the rest of the Bradley Spring Break Invitational, which will mark the halfway point of the 2017 Spring schedule for the Braves.
Junior
Grace Henderson (Peachtree Corners, Ga./Blessed Trinity) is coming off her best 54-hole tournament since last spring and paced Bradley with a seven-over par 229 last time out at the Rio Verde Invitational. Henderson has averaged 77.50 per round this spring, which is over three strokes better than her fall average.
Freshman
Taylor Ledwein (New Prague, Minn./New Prague) owns the top stroke average on the team at 76.05 per round and owns a team-best 19 sub-80 rounds. Ledwein needs one round in the 70's to become just the fourth freshman in program history to card 20 or more sub-80 rounds in their rookie season.
Junior
Ally Scaccia (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) has matched Ledwein's team-best four top-20 finishes and has fired 17 rounds this season in the 70's. Scaccia is currently seventh in school history with 58 career sub-80 rounds and needs two more to become the sixth individual in program history to reach 60.
Sophomore
Frankie Saban carded a career-best 70 in the second round at the Rio Verde Invitational and boasts a 76.50 stroke average in two spring tournaments. She is one of four individuals to play in all 22 rounds this season for the Braves.
Saban and fellow sophomore
Chloe Horton (Coral Gables, Fla./Ransom Everglades) enter the Bradley Spring Break Invitational tied for third on the team with 14 sub-80 rounds this season. Horton's season average of 77.77 is third best on the roster and is nearly three strokes better than her average from her freshman season.
The Bradley Spring Invitational opens a busy week for the Braves, who will close out their Spring Break trip to the Lone Star State March 17-19 at the Cardinal Challenge in Beaumont, Texas.
