Six Former Braves Start Minor League Seasons Tonight

Three Braves - Jason Leblebijian, Rob Scahill and Mike Tauchman - Open the 2017 Season at Triple-A Level

Six former Bradley Baseball players are scheduled to start their 2017 Minor League Baseball seasons tonight, including a trio of Braves at the Triple-A level.

Two Braves, RHP Rob Scahill and OF Mike Tauchman, were non-roster invitees during Major League Baseball spring training camps for the Milwaukee Brewers and Colorado Rockies, respectively, but both have been re-assigned to Triple-A to start the season.  Scahill turned in a stellar spring training by allowing only one run in his 12 appearances, finishing up the preseason with a 0.73 ERA and .205 opponent batting average in his 12.1 innings for the Brewers.  Tauchman appeared in 19 spring training games for the Rockies, finishing with a .179 batting average (7-for-28) with two doubles.  Albuquerque (Tauchman) and Colorado Springs (Scahill) are scheduled to meet May 19-22 in Albuquerque and 

The duo will be joined in Triple-A to start the 2017 season by IF Jason Leblebijian, who will open his sixth pro season in the Toronto Blue Jays organization with the International League's Buffalo Bison.

Elliot Ashbeck (2013-15), RHP, Lake Elsinore Storm (Padres), Class A Advanced California League
Ashbeck appeared in seven games in 2016 before suffering a season-ending arm injury and he is expected to return to the mound later this season after rehabbing in extended spring training.

Matt Dennis (2014-16), RHP, Asheville Tourists (Rockies), Class A South Atlantic League
Selected in the 14th round of the 2016 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft by Colorado, Dennis made 23 appearances for the Grand Junction Rockies in the Rookie Pioneer League last summer.  Bradley's all-time leader with 18 career saves, Dennis was 5-2 with seven saves and a 3.27 ERA for Grand Junction, where he walked just four and struck out 37 in his 33.0 innings.

Jason Leblebijian (2010-12), IF, Buffalo Bison (Blue Jays), Triple-A International League
Leblebijian has steadily worked his way up through the Blue Jays organization and he is preparing to make his Triple-A debut in his sixth pro season.  He enjoyed his best year as a pro in 2016, batting .294 in 127 games overall with 13 home runs and 55 RBI, while playing his final 74 games in Double-A.

Max Murphy (2012-14), OF, Fort Myers Miracle (Twins), Class A Advanced Florida State League
Murphy played at three levels during an injury-plagued season in 2016, combining to hit .236 with five home runs and 26 RBI's.  He has played parts of each of the two previous seasons in Fort Myers.

Cameron Roegner (2012-16), LHP, Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (Brewers), Class A Midwest League
Roegner was selected in the 22nd round of the 2016 MLB First-Year Player Draft by Milwaukee and split his first pro season between the Brewers' rookie affiliates in the Arizona League and the Pioneer League.  He finished the season with a 2-3 record and 3.07 ERA in 14 appearances, allowing just a .238 opponent batting average.  A Midwest League affiliate, the Timber Rattlers are scheduled to visit Roegner's college home stadium, Dozer Park, to face the Peoria Chiefs May 30-June 1 and July 29-August 1.

Rob Scahill (2006-09), RHP, Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Brewers), Triple-A Pacific Coast League
Scahill has pitched at the Major League level in each of the last five years for the Rockies (2012-14), Pirates (2015-16) and Brewers (2016), sporting a career 4-4 record and 3.68 ERA in 100 appearances at the Big League level.  He made 12 Spring Training appearances for the Brewers this year, allowing just one run for a 0.73 ERA in his 12.1 innings while boasting a .205 opponent batting average.

Mike Tauchman (2010-13), OF, Albuquerque Isotopes (Rockies), Triple-A Pacific Coast League
Tauchman has been a non-roster invitee to Colorado's Major League spring training camp each of the last two seasons, but will open his fifth pro season at the Triple-A level for the second consecutive season.  Playing a full season for Triple-A Albuquerque last season, Tauchman hit .286 in 129 games and finished the season by setting the Isotopes franchise record with a 25-game hitting streak.
