Campbell Earns All-MVC in Day One of Outdoor Championship

Senior Patrick Campbell highlighted the opening day of the 2017 Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship for Bradley, earning all-conference honors in the 10,000m run.

The senior collected his fourth All-MVC accolades of the season, placing third overall in a time of 30:36.10. Campbell was also named to the all-conference team in cross country this year, while earning the honor twice at the MVC Indoor Championship in the 3,000m and 5,000m runs.

Campbell was one of three Braves to score points on the opening night of the championship as freshman Jake Hoffert and senior Caleb Beck each posted top-eight finishes in the 10,000m run. Hoffert posted a time of 31:02.53 to cross the finish line in seventh place, while Beck was eighth with a mark of 31:08.02

Junior Hannah Witczak scored the first three points of the championship for the Bradley women's team, placing sixth in the 10,000m run. The junior crossed the finish line in 36:57.63 to get the Braves on the board, while senior Lauren Cunningham also posted a top-10 time, placing ninth in 37:11.44

Additionally, four Braves qualified for the 1,500m finals, which will be held on Sunday. Bradley posted the top two times on the men's side with senior Mike Bianchina finishing first in 3:54.77 and junior Daniel Gagne placing second in 3:55.87. Junior Taylor Floyd Mews also qualified for Sunday's championship with a sixth-place finish in 3:56.16.

Senior Rachel Sudbury is also among the 10 qualifiers on the women's side, placing fourth overall on Friday in 4:33.63.

The BU men currently sit in fifth place after one day of competition with nine points, while the women are in eighth place with three points.

The MVC Championship continues tomorrow with track events beginning at 5 p.m. The Braves are slated to compete for spots on the podium on Saturday in the 3,000m steeplechase, with a number of prelims also being contested.
