PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior outfielders Kelly Kapp and Caitlyn McCarron were both named First-Team National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Mideast Region selections, while junior catcher Maria Schroeder was a Third-Team All-Mideast pick according to an announcement by the NFCA Thursday.

Bradley was the only Missouri Valley Conference team with two first-team all-region selections and the school-record three honorees by the Braves were second in the MVC only to co-champion Illinois State's four selections.  The last time Bradley had a first-team all-region selection was 2013 and Kapp joins Madeline Lynch-Crumrine as the only two-time NFCA All-Region choices in program history.  In addition, the Braves had two first-team all-region picks for the first time in program history.

Kapp earned First-Team NFCA All-Mideast Region honors after taking home third-team distinction last year.  A First-Team All-MVC performer, she was selected as Bradley's team MVP and Most Valuable Offensive Player for the third consecutive year after leading the league with a school-record .438 batting average.  Kapp broke her own school season record with 78 hits and is one of three players in MVC history with 76 or more hits in two different seasons.

The MVC career steals leader, Kapp swiped a conference record 41 bases in 2017.  She ranks eighth in the nation with her 78 hits and her .438 average is currently 13th in the country.  In addition, Kapp's 41 stolen bases are tied for the seventh most nationally through May 17.  Her .407 career batting average is the top mark in MVC history and she also broke into the top 20 in league history in career runs.  Kapp hit .407 in MVC play this season and reached base 58 percent of the time she led off an inning in her final season on The Hilltop.  She had multiple hits in 23 games and reached base safely in all but five games.

McCarron was a First-Team All-MVC selection and voted a First-Team MVC Scholar-Athlete following a breakout senior season.  Her .428 batting average, which ranks second among Bradley season marks, was second in the MVC behind Kapp and currently ranks 25th nationally.  The MVC Player of the Week for March 27, she had 28 more hits in 2017 than she did in her first three seasons combined with her 25 extra-base hits the most at Bradley since 2004 and tied for third-best season total on The Hilltop.

In addition, McCarron posted the best season slugging percentage in school history (.686), while her season hits (68 - T6th), doubles (15 - T5th) and RBI (40 - 5th) all ranked among the top season marks in program history.  In Valley play, she hit .357 while driving in 16 runs.  McCarron had a team-high 18 two-out RBI and had 21 multi-hit outings in her final season as finished with the highest career slugging percentage (.538) at Bradley.

Schroeder's third-team NFCA All-Region honors caps a season, which also included CoSIDA Academic All-District V honors and First-Team MVC Scholar-Athlete accolades.  This season she was third on the team with a .319 average and paced the squad in doubles (16) and walks (19).  Schroeder is the only player in program history to drive in 25 or more runs in three consecutive seasons after driving in 38 runs in 2017.

Named MVC Player of the Week after helping Bradley to the title at the Mardi Gras Classic, Schroeder belted a two-run homer in the 2-1 victory at #16 Louisiana-Lafayette and was a two-time MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week selection in 2017.  A two-time Second-Team All-Valley performer, she is one of three players in school history with 97 career runs and 97 career RBI.  The two-time NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete ranks 10th at Bradley with a .330 career batting average and enters her senior year among Bradley's career top 10 in doubles, runs, RBI, slugging percentage, walks and on-base percentage.
