PEORIA, IL - Thirteen members of the 2017 Bradley Baseball team are fine-tuning their skills this summer by playing in collegiate wood-bat leagues, including five in the popular Northwoods League.

Among the early-season highlights, rising senior DH Derek Bangert already has launched four home runs and driven in 10 runners in his first 11 games for the Northwoods League Kenosha Kingfish. He has reached base safely in 10 consecutive games and was a combined 5-for-10 over the weekend in games at Battle Creek (3-for-5) and at Rockford (2-for-5).

Rising sophomore OF Dan Bolt is playing for the Springfield (IL) Sliders in the Prospect League and also has reached base safely in 10 of his first 11 games this summer. Batting .289 overall with nine RBI's in 11 games to date, Bolt owns a .491 on-base percentage. In his first four games, he was 6-for-11 with 11 walks.

After going hitless (0-for-11) in his first three games of the summer, rising sophomore Brendan Dougherty has hit safely in his last nine games for the Northwoods League's Thunder Bay Border Cats. The 2017 Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year has bumped his early-season batting average to .289 and he has banged out a double in three of the last four games, while going 7-for-16 (.438).

Rising senior infielder Andrew Ivelia has started hot for the Licking County Settlers in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League. In a season that began Thursday, Ivelia has hit safely in each of his team's first four games, going 6-for-14 (.429) with two doubles and a RBI. He has also walked twice for a .500 on-base percentage. Rising sophomore infielder Luke Shadid joins Ivelia with Licking County and he also has hit safely in the first four games, going 5-for-16 (.313) with a home run, three RBI's and four walks.
