MADISON, Ill. – Senior Ethan Brue is at six-under 136 after firing a pair of rounds in the 60's to finish Monday's opening day of the Derek Dolenc Invitational atop the leaderboard and the Bradley men's golf team is second in the field after turning in two of the 10 lowest rounds in school history.

The Braves finished Monday's action second in the 17-team field of the Derek Dolenc Invitational at two-under 566 after rounds of 282 and 284.  Brue's career-best four-under 67 at the par-71 Gateway National Golf Links to open the day helped Bradley shoot an opening-round 282 (two-under) to tie the fifth lowest team round in school history.

Brue followed up his morning round 67, which was one shot from matching the lowest individual round in school history, with a 69 in the afternoon as he closed the day at six-under 136.  He holds a one-shot advantage on second-place Drew Alexander of Valparaiso (137).

Bradley's even par 284 in the second round is the 10th-lowest round in school history and the Braves will head into Tuesday's final round at two-under 566.  Despite the strong team effort from Bradley, tournament-host SIU Edwardsville has a commanding 13-shot advantage on the field at 15-under 553.  The Braves own a three-shot lead on third-place UT-Martin (569) and 14-shot edge over fourth-place Missouri State (580).

Brue's rounds 67 and 69 Monday were his eighth and ninth sub-70 rounds of his career, one short of the school record of 10 held by Lyle Burns.  The duo of Burns and Brue are the only individuals in program history to open a tournament with consecutive rounds in the 60's, with both doing so twice as a Brave.

Junior Daniel Lensing made his season debut with a pair of one-over 72's in his first action of 2017-18.  He is 17th overall at two-over 144, three shots out of the top 10, while sophomore Charles Jahn and junior Zach Jewell are both one shot behind Lensing in a tie for 18th at three-over 145.

Jahn carded the lowest round of his Bradley career with an even-par 71 in the first round and turned in a 74 in the afternoon.  Jewell rebounded from a first-round 76 with a two-under 69 to close the day.  Junior Drake Bushong rounds out the team scoring for Bradley in a tie for 67th at 12-over 154.  Bushong's first-round 72 was a season-best and he finished out the day with an 82.

Freshman Miguel Montelongo is in the field as an individual and is tied with both Jahn and Jewell for 18th at three-over 145.  Montelongo wrapped up the season-opening Crusader Collegiate with a 72 and carried that over to the opening round of the Derek Dolenc Invite, where he fired a season-best one-under 70.  Montelongo fired a 75 in the afternoon's round.

The final round of the Derek Dolenc Invitational is scheduled to tee off Tuesday at 8:15 a.m.
