Women’s Basketball MVC Schedule Announced

PEORIA, Ill. -- The 2017-18 Bradley Women's Basketball schedule is complete with the announcement of the Missouri Valley Conference slate by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

The Braves will open and close The Valley schedule against their travel partner for the third consecutive year and will face I-74 rival Illinois State in the league opener for the second straight season. Bradley will travel to Redbird Arena on Sunday, Dec. 31 in the team's earliest conference opener since 2011-12.

Bradley will have three consecutive road games to begin Valley action, following up the road game against Illinois State with a Jan. 5 trip to Chicago to face Loyola along with a Jan. 7 contest at MVC newcomer Valparaiso. The Braves posted a 67-56 victory at Valparaiso last season during non-conference play.

The conference home opener will be played Friday, Jan. 12 against Southern Illinois and will start a stretch in which the Braves will play six of eight at home. The two-game home stand also includes a Jan. 14 matchup with Missouri State.

Five of seven games on the road at the start of the league schedule concludes with games at Indiana State (Jan. 19) and at Evansville (Jan. 21).

Northern Iowa will visit Renaissance Coliseum on Friday, Jan. 26 before the Braves finish the first half of the conference schedule Sunday, Jan. 28 by hosting defending MVC regular-season champion Drake. For the third consecutive year Bradley will have a four-game MVC home stand with a Feb. 2 visit from Valparaiso opening the second half.

For the third consecutive year and fourth time in five season Bradley will play a home game on Super Bowl Sunday with Loyola wrapping up the four-game Valley home stand Feb. 4.

The Braves go nearly two months without playing a game outside the states of Illinois and Indiana (13 games), breaking the stretch Feb. 9 with a visit to Missouri State. Bradley will play at Southern Illinois Sunday, Feb. 11 as part of a doubleheader with the Bradley and SIU men's teams at SIU Arena.

A two-game home stand featuring Evansville (Feb. 16) and Indiana State (Feb. 18) falls before the final road swing of the regular season. The Braves head to Des Moines, Iowa, to take on Drake Feb. 23 and the final road game of the regular season is set for Feb. 25 at Northern Iowa.

Bradley concludes the home schedule against I-74 rival Illinois State on Saturday, March 3 with the 2018 MVC Championship the next week March 8-11 in Moline, Ill.

Bradley will play its lone exhibition game Saturday, Nov. 4 against Upper Iowa at Renaissance Coliseum and the regular-season opener is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 10 against Nebraska-Omaha.
