FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. -- A short-handed Bradley Women's Golf team, which was down to four players due to an illness, managed to hang on to seventh place in the 15-team field at Amelia Island Collegiate to open the 2018 Spring schedule for the Braves.

Junior Chloe Horton was forced to miss Tuesday's final round at the par-72 Amelia National Golf Club due to illness as Bradley completed its first tournament of the spring with just four players.  The Braves carded a 310 on the final day of play and finished seventh in the team standings at 920, 13 shots back of sixth-place Winthrop.

Campbell won a tie-breaker with defending NJCAA National Champion Daytona State College to claim the team title with both schools posting 54-hole scores of 878.  North Florida, which boasted individual champion Sydney Shrader (-4), was one shot back in third overall 879.  Florida Gulf Coast and Jacksonville State tied for fourth in the field at 904, followed by sixth-place Winthrop (907).  Bradley's score of 920 was good for seventh overall as the Braves edged eighth-place Georgia State (922) by two strokes and were seven shots better than tournament-host Jacksonville (9th - 927).

Junior Frankie Saban turned in the low round of the day for the Braves with a four-over 76 as she matched her lowest round of the tournament.  Sophomore Taylor Ledwein was Bradley's top finisher, tying for 23rd overall at 12-over 228.  Her final-round 77 was Ledwein's 25th consecutive sub-80 round which ranks as the second longest streak in school history and she moved into ninth in career sub-80 rounds with her 47th career round in the 70's or better.  Ledwein finished one shot from posting her fourth top-20 finish of the year.

Senior Ally Scaccia matched Ledwein on the final day with a 77 to finish three shots back of her teammate in 36th at 231 in the individual standings.  Saban tied for 38th overall at 233, closing out the tournament with a pair of 76's.  Junior Brooke Thompson rounded out Bradley's team lineup and fired a third-round 80 to tie for 43rd overall at 234.

In the field as an individual, senior Grace Henderson turned in a 79 on the final day.  She tied for 52nd overall at 236 for her lowest 54-hole score of the season.

The Bradley Women's Golf team continues a busy week to open the spring season, heading to Rio Verde, Ariz., for the Rio Verde Invitational Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
