Freshman Hannah Thompson of the volleyball team is the first Bradley Athlete of the Month in 2018-19, earning the honor after a fan vote for the month of September.

A two-time Valley Freshman of the Week in September, Thompson ranked second on the team with 3.25 kills per set and 3.93 digs per set. She earned All-Tournament Team honors at both the CEFCU Invitational and Eagle Challenge to start her career as Bradley recorded its best start in school history at 14-2 in the opening month-plus of the season.

Thompson also raised her game during conference play in September. She averaged 4.21 kills per set and 3.93 digs in four Valley matches during the month as Bradley raced to a 4-0 MVC record for the first time since 2005.

The rookie finished the month as one of only two players in the Valley to rank in the top 10 in both kills and digs per set. She is also the first Bradley player since 1991 and one of two freshmen nationally with 190 kills and 230 digs. Overall, Thompson is averaging 3.16 kills and 3.87 digs in 18 matches during her freshman campaign.

Thompson earned the Bradley Athlete of the Month accolades after a fan vote on the school's twitter account. Thompson collected 56 percent of the vote to beat out Gerit Wintermeyer of the soccer team (25 percent), Daniel Lensing of men's golf (14 percent) and Sandra Maletin of the tennis team (five percent).
