TERRE HAUTE, IN – Tyler Whitbread no-hit Bradley through five innings as Indiana State (36-15, 13-8) pulled away for a 10-2 victory in the regular-season finale for both teams Saturday afternoon at Bob Warn Field.

The loss means Bradley (31-18, 11-10 MVC) will finish in a fourth-place tie in the final regular-season Missouri Valley Conference standings, but will be the No. 5 seed in next week's MVC Baseball Championship.  The Braves will face No. 8 seed Southern Illinois in a single-elimination game Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Illinois State's Duffy Bass Field with the winner advancing into the six-team, double-elimination tournament bracket and a match up against the second-seeded Redbirds Wednesday afternoon.

Though the Braves had few highlights Saturday, junior LF Dan Bolt did single to lead off the ninth inning, extending his team-best on-base streak to 27 games.  Junior 3B Brendan Dougherty was 1-for-3 with a RBI double to extend his on-base streak to 23 games and junior SS Luke Shadid was 2-for-4 with a run scored to finish the regular-season with a team-best .348 batting average.

Junior RHP Sam Lund (5-4) suffered the loss by allowing four runs on five hits in 3.0 innings.  Sycamores No. 9 hitter, CF Luke Fegen, provided the scoring difference by going 2-or-2 with two walks and a pair of 2-run doubles.  His 2-out double in the second inning gave the Sycamores a 3-0 lead.

Despite dropping into the No. 5 tournament seed, Bradley finished the conference season with a winning league mark for the second straight year and the third time in four years.  The Braves had not enjoyed a winning conference season in consecutive years since the 1986 and 1987 teams both posted 11-9 Valley records.
