FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Senior Erin Gorman (Rockford, Ill./Boylan) matched her career-best with a second round 76 and three other Braves were one shot better to help Bradley women's golf team card the lowest round of the year during second round action at the 34th annual Pat Bradley Invitational Monday.
The Braves shot a season-best 308 Monday, but slipped to eighth in the team standings after 36 holes at the par-72 Pelican Preserve Golf & Country Club. The 308 was the squads lowest round since shooting a 303 in the final round of last year's State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championship.
A day after shooting a career-best, four-over 76 Sunday, Gorman matched her career-best effort in the second round to finish the day tied for 14th at 152. She is two shots out of the top 10 and eight shots back of individual leader Alex Buelow (144) of Stetson.
The freshmen duo of Christie Lin (Calgary, Alberta/Sir John G Diefenbaker) and Thea Hedemann (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan/Walter Murray) both followed up first-round 78's with a pair of 77's Monday and will begin the final round Tuesday morning three shots behind Gorman tied for 27th at 155.
Senior Kelly Amundrud (Calgary, Alberta/Strathcona Tweedsmuir) was also one shot better on Monday, carding a 78. Amundrud is tied for 38th at 157 and is four shots out of the top 20. Sophomore Cassandra Marschall (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield/Wisconsin-Green Bay) completed the scoring for BU with a second-round 88 and is tied for 70th at 170.
Tournament-host Florida International shot a one-over 289 Monday to move from fourth to first in the team standings at 592. Eastern Michigan moved into second at 594, while Stetson moved up two spots into third (602). North Texas slipped to fourth (604) and first-round leader Boston College dropped to fifth place (605) after the second round.
Cincinnati moved ahead of the Braves into sixth (611) and Florida Gulf Coast is seventh (614). Bradley is five shots back in eighth (619) and holds a two-shot edge on ninth-place Southern Miss (621). Delaware is 10th overall (630) with Daytona State College (11th - 634) and Bethune-Cookman (12th - 647) following. Western Illinois closed Monday's action in 13th (654), while Drake (14th - 656) and Florida Atlantic (15th - 657) round out the field.
