SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Junior Josh Brown shot a team-best 73 Tuesday to help lead the Bradley men's golf team to a sixth place finish at the Southwest Missouri State Fall Invitational. The Braves shot 304 on the day to finish the tournament with a three-round total of 909.
Brown tied for fifth place in the field, marking his third consecutive tournament he has placed in the top 10. He shot a team-best 73 in Tuesday's final round to finish 12 shots back of medalist Austin Hackett at 222.
Fellow junior Craig Tautges carded a 79 to finish 17th overall at 226. Tautges posted his third top 20 finish of the season, finishing two shots back of a four-way tie for 10th place. Sophomore Scott Phegley posted his first career top 20 finish, tying for 19th place at 228 after firing a 77 during Tuesday's final round.
Sophomore Brad Molitor shot a 76 in the third round to place 53rd overall at 240, while fellow sophomore Ryan Julius had his low round of the tournament with a 78 to place 63rd with a three-round total of 246.
The Braves entered Tuesday's final round in fourth place but slipped two spots to finish sixth overall in the 13-team field.
Tournament-host SMS took the team title, finishing with a 10-stroke lead on second-place finisher Southeast Missouri State. The Bears shot 882 compared to 892 for SEMO. Northern Illinois was third at 897, with Southern Illinois taking fourth at 898.
Murray State placed fifth overall at 902, while Bradley was sixth at 909. Northern Iowa (917), Saint Louis (924), Western Illinois (932) and Tennessee-Martin (934) rounded out the top 10, with SMS-White (946), Eastern Illinois (952) and Creighton (955) completing the field, respectively.
The SMS Fall Invitational was the final scheduled event for the Braves for the fall.
