PEORIA, Ill. -- Four of Bradley's six runners ran season-best times to help lead the Bradley men's cross country team to a 21st place finish in the 25-team field at the 32nd annual Lakefront Invitational Saturday in Chicago, Ill.
Sophomore Abe Ramirez led the Braves, running a season-best time of 26:19 to finish 85th overall among Division I runners. Ramirez was followed closely by freshman Chris George who also turned in a season-best time of 26:24 to take 87th in the individual standings.
Freshman Nathan Leech was 15 seconds short of his season-best 8-kilometer time, but finished 106th in a time of 26:43. Junior Bryan Thigpen shaved four seconds off his season-best outing to place 110th at 26:50. Senior Eric Pueschel crossed the line in 27:26 to place 137th overall, while Nick Palumbo was nearly a minute faster than his season-best time, finishing in a time of 27:38 for 147th place.
The Braves placed 20th overall with a total of 525 points, beating Missouri Valley Conference rival Northern Iowa by 20 points. Marshall took 23rd overall at 620, while Toledo (632) and Oakland (666) rounded out the 25-team field.
Bradley returns to action Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Wisconsin-Parkside Invite in Kenosha, Wis.
