NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Bradley (9-5-2, 5-1-1) scored four unanswered goals and ran its unbeaten streak to a season-long five games by rolling to a 4-1 Missouri Valley Conference road victory Sunday afternoon at Vanderbilt (6-9-1, 2-6-0).

In a fairly even first half, Vanderbilt went ahead in the 34th minute when junior forward John Krause netted his 12th goal of the season. The scoring play began on a Krause free kick that deflected off the Bradley wall. The transfer from Boston College pounced on the loose ball, though, and scored in traffic at 33:30.

The Braves forged a 1-1 tie shortly before halftime when junior defender Jeff Kellogg (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap H.S.) found the net for the first time in his Bradley career. The scoring play started from a Bradley throw in, and after the ball was knocked around, Kellogg deposited a shot from eight yards out on the right side to the left corner of the net. In addition to the 1-1 tie on the scoreboard, both teams managed four first-half shots.

The second half was a different story, however, as the Braves took control by outshooting their hosts, 9-3, in the final 45 minutes. Junior forward Steve Chromik (Elk Grove, Ill./St. Viator H.S.) scored what proved to be the game-winner against his former team. Chromik, who transferred from Vanderbilt to Bradley prior to the 2003 season, headed home a Cody Kother cross from six yards out on the left side at 60:22 for a 2-1 Bradley lead.

The Braves got some insurance just 1:44 later when junior defender Nick Bowden (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way H.S.) took a feed from freshman Drew DeGurian and attempted to send a service to the near post. His service was a little too good, however, as the pass found the back of the net, resulting in his second goal of the season.

Senior forward Preston Good (Newark, Calif./Moreau Catholic H.S.) got in on the act in the 74th minute by tapping home his fifth goal of the year. Junior Chris Brown played a through ball to senior Luke Kreamalmeyer, who kept the ball going through the middle of the field and into the penalty area, where Good finished off the play. Since enduring the longest scoring drought of his career (10 games), Good has now contributed at least one point in five consecutive games, including a goal in each of the last four contests.

The Braves strengthened their hold on third place in the Valley standings with 16 points heading into the final weekend of the regular season. Bradley will host league-leading and nationally-ranked SMU (11-3, 6-0 entering Sunday) Friday at 7 p.m. at Shea Stadium, then will close out the regular season next Sunday afternoon by hosting Tulsa (6-5-2, 2-3-1). The two soccer games will be the highlight of Bradley University's annual Homecoming festivities.
