Box Score PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley shot nearly 63 percent in the second half and dominated the boards, posting a 46-26 edge in rebounding to post a 95-66 victory over visiting Loyola in non-conference women's basketball action Saturday at Robertson Field House.
The Braves led by 10 points at the half, 43-33, but came out shooting the lights out in the second half, hitting 20-of-32 shots in the frame to outscore the Ramblers 52-33 in the period. Bradley shot a season-high 56.1 percent from the field, marking the highest field goal percentage for the Braves since shooting 58.3 percent at Eastern Illinois on Nov. 20, 2001.
Seniors Dena Williams, Bradley active career rebounding leader, and Genny Mueller, the Braves active career scoring leader, switched roles as Williams poured in a season-best 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting, while Mueller grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds to pace the Braves on the glass. Williams also added seven rebounds and one blocked shot in 20 minutes of play. Mueller posted her first career double-double with 17 points, 10 boards to go along with six assists and two steals.
Sophomore Jen Brown also had a career night, dishing out a personal best 12 assists while having just two turnovers. Brown's 12 assists highlighted an afternoon where Bradley posted the most assists since February 27, 1992 with 29 on the day.
Mueller moved into 12th place on the Braves career scoring list, passing Andrea McAllister. Mueller now has 988 career points and is just 12 points short of becoming the 12th player in program history with 1,000 career points.
Bradley led for almost the entire game, but held a slim 32-30 lead with just over four minutes remaining in the first half. Three-pointers by Brown and Mueller helped spark the Braves offensively as they outscored Loyola 11-3 the rest of the half to take a 43-33 lead at the half.
Loyola cut the lead to eight points in the opening minute of the second half but would get no closer as Williams would score eight of her game high 23 points during an 18-4 run that extended the Braves lead to 23 points, 71-48, with 8:39 remaining.
Bradley improved to 4-2 on the season with the victory as 13 Braves scored, including nine different players with five or more points. The Braves pulled down 18 offensive rebounds and owned a 19-9 edge in second chance points.
Loyola (3-4 overall) was led by 18 points Meskhenet Lands and 15 points by Jenna Real. The duo scored half of the Rambler's 66 points and made 14-of-21 shots as the rest of the team combined to shoot just 10-for-38 (26.3 percent) from the field. Mandy Menella had a career-high 11 assists for Loyola.
