CHARLESTON, Ill. -- Senior Jackee Brannan broke her own school record in the weight throw to finish third and also took second in the shot put to highlight Saturday's action for the Bradley track and field team at the Eastern Illinois Mega Meet.
Brannan broke her own school record in the weight throw with a toss of 16.22 meters (53'-02.75), while also taking second place in the shot put after a season-best throw of 13.21 meters (43'-04.25). Sophomore Jennifer Jenkins took sixth in the weight throw with a heave of 14.88 meters (48-10.00), while fellow sophomore Kim Martin took seventh at 14.57 meters (47-09.75).
Tiffany Mack posted the only other top five finish for the Braves as she captured fifth place in the 600-meter dash with a season-best time of 1:40.46.
Freshman Niobra Peterson had a strong debut for Bradley as she finished seventh in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:00.91. Peterson also clocked a team season-best time of 27.00 seconds in the 200-meter dash to place ninth in the event.
The Braves return to action Friday and Saturday at the Iowa State Open in Ames, Iowa.
