Springfield, Mo. ? The Bradley Braves wrapped up play at the 2005 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships on Sunday with rival Illinois State taking six titles and three runner-ups.
The Braves were paced by Jr. Elise Montrose's third place finish in Flight Two singles. Montrose finished 2-1 on the tournament to push her fall win total to eight.
Senior Ashley Morris dropped her opening match Friday to eventual No. 1 singles champion, Jennifer Migan of Indiana State, and then took two of three matches to place seventh overall in the top flight. Morris knocked off Maria Blanco of Southern Illinois, 6-1, 3-6, 6-0, in Sunday's final session.
In other Bradley action on Sunday, Jr. Teri Chan dropped her third place match with Indiana State's Fadzai Masiyaki, 6-0, 6-4. The loss is just the fourth of the fall for Chan, who, along with Ashley Morris (10-4), is tied for the team's fewest losses at 9-4 overall.
Erin Krubeck toppled Kari Sloboth of Drake for ninth place at No. 5 singles and Jess Sampias claimed fourth at No. 6 singles in other consolation placement matches.
