PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley senior goalkeeper Chris Dunsheath (Rockford, Ill./Boylan H.S.) became the second player in school history to be selected All-Midwest Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America today when he landed on the first team for the second straight year, according to an announcement from the NSCAA this afternoon.
Dunsheath was one of two Braves honored Thursday as senior defender Jeff Kellogg (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap H.S.) was voted to the second team by the region's head coaches, based on a game-by-game evaluation of their opponents' top players. A second-team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection in November, Kellogg was one of six defenders to earn all-region honors.
In a similar vote to the 2005 All-MVC squad, Dunsheath got the nod as the first-team NSCAA All-Midwest keeper ahead of second-teamer Nathan Platz of Missouri State. The MVC Defensive Player of the Year, Dunsheath broke his own single-season school record by posting 11.0 shutouts during his senior season while running his career total to a Valley record 27.5 shutouts.
Dunsheath also was the NSCAA All-Midwest keeper as a junior in 2004 after earning second-team all-region honors in 2002 and 2003. He joins former Bradley star Gavin Glinton (1998-2001) as the only four-time NSCAA All-Midwest Region honorees in school history. Glinton was a first-team pick in 1998, 1999 and 2001 and he garnered second-team notice in 2000. Dunsheath also joins Glinton and Bryan Namoff (1999-2000) as the only three players in program history to repeat as All-Midwest first-teamers.
The defensive work of Dunsheath and Kellogg led the 2005 Braves to a 15-6-1 overall record, the Valley regular-season championship and an at-large invitation to the NCAA Tournament.
