CHARLESTON, Ill. -- Senior Jackee Brannan broke her own school records in both the shot put and weight throw to highlight action for the Bradley Track and Field team at the Friday Night Special in Charleston, Ill.
Brannan broke her own school mark in the weight throw with a toss of 16.39 meters (53' 9.25”) to take fifth place and later had a heave of 13.50 meters (44' 3.5”) in the shot put to surpass her previous school record in the event. She finished seventh in the shot put.

Jennifer Jenkins also turned in a season-best performance in the weight throw, reaching 15.95 meters (52' 4”) to take seventh place.
Sophomore Sarah Westrick nearly won the 800 meter run, finishing nine one-hundreths of a second behind LeeAnn Lomax of Southern Illinois-Edwardsville. Westrick ran a personal best 2:18.84 in the 800 to take second place.
Senior Tiffany Mack won the 600 meter dash, clocking a 1:40.76 to beat out second-place finisher Iantha Burke of McKendree.
Sophomore Marcia Backstrom was one of three Braves to post season-best times in the mile run, as she finished seventh overall with a time of 5:28.61. Freshmen Jenny Melville (5:31.93) and Bekah Aavang (5:35.78) also turned in season-best performances.
The Braves return to action Friday and Saturday at the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championship in Carbondale, Ill.
