PEORIA, Ill. ? The Bradley women's tennis team improved to 2-4 on the spring with a 6-1 victory over visiting Wisconsin-Milwaukee Sunday at the Clubs at River City.
The Braves swept the doubles point and took five of six singles to pick up their second victory in the last four matches. Sophomore Elise Montrose and junior Ashley Morris posted an 8-2 victory over Tammi Spiel and Margie Van Lieshout at #1 doubles. Teri Chan and Kelley Wood were 8-3 winners at #2 doubles, and Nicole Kirley and Jess Sampias teamed to post an 8-5 win at #3 doubles.
Montrose was a straight set winner at #1 singles, defeating Spiel 6-1, 6-2, while Morris made quick word of Van Lieshout at #2 singles with a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
Wood downed Shayna Illingworth 6-3, 6-1 at #3 singles and Chan claimed a 6-0, 6-3 win over Traci Litscher at #4 singles. Kirley defeated Jenna McConnell 6-3, 6-1 at #5 singles, while Sampias lost a hard-fought match at #6 singles before falling 4-6, 6-7 to Erin Felber.
The Braves have the next three weekends off before returning action Monday, March 14th when they face Idaho State in Las Vegas, Nev.
