CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Bradley scored two unearned runs in the first inning and junior Joanna Pettit belted a solo home run, but Chattanooga scratched out four runs to defeat the Braves 4-3 to wrap up first day action at the Frost Classic in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Freshman Molly Bergeson reached on an error and both she and junior Bethany Till were both safe on a fielder's choice. After a sacrifice bunt moved the runners to second and third, Pettit knocked in Bergeson with a ground ball to the second base, and Till later scored on a single up the middle by freshman Trish Kowalewsi as Bradley took a 2-0 lead.

The Mocs got the two runs back in their half of the first inning, however. Jeannie Cochran drew a leadoff walk and Tara Tembey had a bunt single, before Melissa Ramirez plated both base runners with a double to right center.

The Braves nearly got out of a jam in the second inning unscathed, but UTC added an unearned run in the frame. After a leadoff walk and a hit by pitch, freshman Rebecca Bishop came in to pitch and fanned the first two batters she faced. Tembey beat out an infield single, however, and an errant throw home allowed Britnney Whittier to score to put the Mocs ahead 3-2.

Bradley tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the fourth inning, when Pettit belted her fifth career home run to center field to lead off the frame.

Tembey struck again in the fourth inning, smacking a one-out double to left field and then stole third base. Ramirez drove in her third run of the game with single through the right side to plate Tembey with the go ahead run.

Bishop suffered the loss for Bradley falling to 0-2 on the season, while the Braves fell to 0-3.

The Braves return to action at the Frost Classic Saturday with games against Bowling Green at 11:15 a.m. (CST) and Tennessee Tech (1:15 p.m.). in Chattanooga, Tenn.
