Box Score CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Purdue drew seven walks and limited Bradley to just three singles as the Braves fell to 0-2 on the young season with a 2-0 loss to the Boilermakers at the Frost Classic in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Purdue got on the board in the first inning, as the Braves walked in a run to give the Boilermakers a 1-0 lead. Katie Fortune drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the fourth inning and eventually scored on a Bradley error to give Purdue a 2-0 lead. After the walk, pinch runner Tiffany Krcelich advanced to second on a sacrifice and came around to score on Katie Absher's single. An erant throw by the Braves on Absher's single allowed Krcelich to score from third.
Bradley had its best scoring chance in the top of the fifth inning after junior Joanna Pettit drew a walk to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a Prudue error. With two outs, Pettit stole third base but Diana LaRive notched one of her nine strikeouts on the day.
Freshman Molly Bergeson took the loss in her first start as she walked four and struck out one. Junior Brittany Dehler pitched four innings of relief, giving up three hits and one uneared run. Senior Brittany Mynsberge went 1-for-2, while junior Bethany Till and sophomore Elizabeth Wilson each were 1-for-3 in the game.
Bradley returns to action at the Frost Classic in Chattanooga, Tenn., Friday at 7 p.m. against tournament host Chattanooga.
