OSCEOLA, Fla. -- Three unearned runs proved costly, as Tennessee-Martin posted a 3-1 victory over the Bradley Softball team Sunday afternoon at the Rebel Spring Games in Osceola, Fla.

The Braves gave up two unearned runs in the bottom of the first and one in the fourth inning, while managing to scratch out just one run on a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning as Bradley fell to 3-5 on the year with the loss.

The Skyhawk's Jennifer Young reached on an error to lead off the game for Tennessee-Martin and stole second base. Brandey Whalen drew a walk and a passed ball advanced the runners to second and third with no outs. Kristin Runyan knocked in Young from third with a sacrifice fly to left field and Whalen scored on Nicole Davis' one-out RBI-single as Tennessee-Martin grabbed an early 2-0 lead.

UTM added an insurance run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Christa Webb reached on a Bradley fielding error with one out and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Young plated the insurance run with a two-out single to give the Skyhawks a 3-0 lead.

Bradley left a runner on base in all seven innings and stranded a total of 10 runners in the game. The Braves finally managed to scratch out a run in the top of the seventh inning. Freshman Molly Bergeson led off the inning with a single and moved to second base on a groundout. Senior Brittany Mynsberge singled to move Bergeson to third base, before junior Joanna Pettit scored Bergeson from third base with a sacrifice fly to right field.

Mynsberge collected three of Bradley's seven hits in the game, finishing 3-for-4 at the plate. Junior Brittany Dehler took the loss for the Braves as she fell to 2-1 on the season. Dehler gave up six hits and three unearned runs while striking out one and walking two.

Bradley continues play at the Rebel Spring Games Monday with a pair of games. The Braves face Butler at 11:30 a.m. (CST) and Army at 1:20 p.m. (CST) during Monday's scheduled action.
