PEORIA, Ill. -- Freshman Trisha Kowalewski went 3-for-5 on the day in her home debut and senior Brittany Mynsberge belted her first home run of the season, but it wasn't enough offense for the Braves as Wichita State swept a Missouri Valley Conference softball doubleheader 4-1 and 8-0 from Bradley, Saturday at Laura Bradley Park.

Bradley (6-12 overall, 0-5) struggled offensively against Wichita State hurler Margo Pruis in the opener. Pruis retired the first 13 batters she faced in order, before Kowalewski smacked a one-out double down the left field line for the Braves first hit of the afternoon in the fifth inning.

The Shockers (19-10 overall, 5-0) had taken a 3-0 lead in the third inning. Katie McGeeney had an infield single and stole second base. Ashley Lynn plated McGeeney with a double to right center. Stephanie De La Riva hit into a fielder's choice but all the runners were safe. Lisa Jones had a two-out single to center that scored Lynn from second base. Chelsea McClernon legged out an infield single that scored De La Riva with the third run of the inning.

Wichita State added an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning. McGeeney led off the inning with a double and scored on De La Riva's one-out single to push the lead to 4-0.

The Braves broke a 23-inning scoreless streak in the bottom of the seventh when Mynsberge led off the inning with a home run to left field. Mynsberge's home run was her first of the season and the 11th of her career.

Junior Brittany Dehler took the loss for Bradley, falling to 3-4 on the year. Dehler struck out three and walked two in five innings of work. Freshman hurler Rebecca Bishop surrendered one run in two innings of relief work.

Pruis upped her record to 8-4 for the Shockers as she struck out 11 batters and walked just two in the two-hit complete game.

In the nightcap, Wichita State plated six runs in the bottom of the third inning to blow open a scoreless contest. Erin Peters singled to lead off the inning and Ashley Lynn drew a one-out walk. A passed ball and base on balls loaded the bases, before Dehler entered the contest for Bradley in relief of starter Molly Bergeson. A wild pitch scored Peters and bunt single by Julie Darling scored Lynn to give the Shockers a 2-0 lead. A Bradley fielding error allowed De La Riva to score from third and McClernon loaded the bases when she drew a walk. Brooke Usher delivered the big hit of the inning for the Shockers with a double to left center that scored three runs to push the Wichita State lead to 6-0.

Darling helped the Shockers add another run in the fourth inning with a one-out single up the middle that scored Lynn from second. Usher ended the game in the bottom of the sixth inning with a two-out bases loaded single that scored Darling to give Wichita State the 8-0 win. Usher went 2-for-4 with four RBI in the second game.

Kowalewski went 2-for-4 in the nightcap with her fourth double of the season. Bradley collected just four hits in the second game. Bergeson took the loss for the Braves falling to 1-3 on the season. She struck out three and walked three in two and one-third innings. Dehler pitched three and one-third innings in relief.

Bradley continues its season-long 10-game homestand Tuesday when the Braves play host to Butler in a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
