NORMAL, Ill. ? The Bradley women's tennis team returned to conference play Wednesday as the Braves faced defending conference champion Illinois State at the Evergreen Racquet Club in Normal, Ill. The Braves fell to 2-9 overall and 0-2 in conference play with a 7-0 loss to the Redbirds.

Sophomore Elise Montrose was the only Bradley player to win a set on the day, claiming a 6-1 victory in the opening set at #1 singles against Elizabeth Bingier. Bingier rallied to take the final two sets, however, winning 6-3 and 7-5.

Junior Ashley Morris challenged Illinois State's Laura Gravino at #2 singles before falling 6-2, 6-3, while Kelley Wood fell at #3 singles, 6-0, 6-2 to Veronique Parke-Bedard.

Sophomore Teri Chan battled Emilie Sechaud at #4 singles before dropping a 6-2, 6-4 decision and Kathleen Bowen fell 6-0, 6-3 at #5 singles to Ashley Maxwell. Matea Simovic completed the singles sweep for the Redbirds with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Jess Sampias at #6 singles.

In doubles action Montrose and Morris fell at #1 to the duo of Bingier and Gravino by the score of 8-3. The Redbirds' Maxwell and Parke-Bedard teamed for an 8-2 victory at #2 doubles over Chan and Wood. Sampias and Marissa Bianchi fell 8-1 to Sechaud and Simovic at #3 doubles.

The Braves are scheduled to return to action Friday when they play host to Indiana State at 2 p.m. at the Markin Tennis Courts.
