Women?s Golf Ties For Fourth At Payne Stewart Memorial

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Entering the day two shots behind first-round leader Northern Iowa, the Bradley women's golf team shot 316 in the final round of play at the Payne Stewart Memorial Tuesday, to slip into a tie for fourth place with tournament host Southwest Missouri State in Springfield, Mo.

The Braves shot 318 in Monday's first round and were two shots behind Missouri Valley Conference Northern Iowa Northern Iowa entering Tuesday's final round of play. Bradley's 316 in the final round was one shot better than Northern Iowa's final round 317, but the Braves were passed by Illinois State and Southern Illinois as they finished tied with SMS for fourth place with a two-round total of 634.

Senior Agnes Kim fired a team-second round best 77 to finish in eighth place with a score of 158. Fellow senior Carly Sobel slipped from second place after day one into a tie for ninth place at 159 after carding a second round 85. Junior Meaghan LeBlanc fired a 78 during Tuesday's action to climb into a tie for 13th place at 160.

Junior Whitney Bauer posted her second top 20 finish of the season as she tied teammate Whitney Cox at 162. Bauer followed up her Monday round of 81 with an identical 81 on Tuesday, while Cox was two shots better than Monday with a final round 80. Freshman Rikki Sobel also had a solid finish matching Monday's 84 with a final round 84 to tie for 40th place in the 86-person field at 168.

Illinois State took the team title with a score 625, while Southern Illinois and Northern Iowa were tied for second at 633. Bradley and SMS were both one shot behind UNI and SIU at 634, with Wichita State capturing sixth at 639. Eastern Illinois finished seventh at 662, while Drury (8th - 667), Creighton (9th - 669), SMS Maroon (10th - 678), UMKC (11th - 689), Evansville (12th - 693), South Dakota State (13th - 710) and Saint Louis (14th - 755) rounded out the field, respectively.

Bradley will play in the Illini Spring Classic Friday and Saturday in Champaign, before taking part in the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championship (April 17-19) in Springfield, Mo.
