Men?s Golf Takes Eighth At Grover Page Classic

MARTIN, Tenn. -- Sophomore Scott Phegley shot a team best 73 in the final round at the Grover Page Classic in Martin, Tenn., and junior Josh Brown carded a 78 to highlight final day action in the tournament as the Bradley men's golf team finished eighth in the 10-team tournament in the Braves spring opener.

Brown's 78 followed rounds of 74 and 76 on Monday as he finished tied for 24th with a three-round total of 228. Phegley saved his best round for last, firing a 73 during Tuesday's final round of play after carding 81 and 75 on the opening day. Phegley finished in 27th place at 229, one stroke behind Brown.

Junior Craig Tautges finished tied for 43rd place at 236, after shooting a pair of 77's on the opening day and following with an 82 on the final day. Sophomore Brad Molitor shot an 81 during Tuesday's round to finish 51st overall at 240. Molitor had rounds of 79 and 80 during the first day of play. Sophomore Ryan Julius rounded things our for Bradley, placing 59th overall at 255. Julius followed opening day scores of 82 and 84 with a third-round 89.

The Braves finished eighth overall, two shots behind seventh-place Southern Indiana, with a team score of 933. Belmont took the team title with a score of 880. Tournament-host Tennessee-Martin was second at 884, with Murray State (888), Southeast Missouri State (895) and Lewis University (908), rounding out the top five, respectively. Loyola-Chicago finished sixth at 929, while Southern Indiana (931), Bradley (933), Chicago State (995) and Kentucky Wesleyan (1012) completed the field.

The Braves return to action March 14 & 15 at the North-South Intercollegiate in Jacksonville, Fla.
