DES MOINES, Iowa ? Senior Jackee Brannan won the shot put and finished second in the hammer throw to highlight action for the Bradley Track and Field team at the Jim Duncan Invitational in Des Moines, Iowa, Saturday.
Brannan won the shot put with a throw of 13.01 meters (42'-08.25”) and was second in the hammer throw with a season-best toss of 48.49 meters (159'-01”). She also placed seventh in the discus with a hurl of 32.82 meters (107-08). Brannan earned three of the Braves top 10 finishes on the day, including Bradley's top two finishes with her first and second place showings in the shot put and hammer throw, respectively.
Freshman Niobra Peterson had a pair of top five finishes in the sprints for the Braves as she placed third in the 100 meters with a time of 12.47 and also finished fourth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.84. Rachel Redenius finished seventh in the 100 meter dash at 13.19 and Maya Monitto-Webber was eighth at 13.20.

Senior Tiffany Mack ran a season-best time of 2:20.19 in the 800 meters to finish fifth overall and Sarah Westrick was ninth overall at 2:23.46. Westrick also placed third in the 1,500 meters, clocking a 4:49.23. Freshman Bekah Aavang finished ninth in a season-best time of 4:54.96.
Kristina Werner led a group of three Braves that finished in the top eight in the 3,000 meter run. Running the event for the first time this season, Werner finished fifth at 10:42.22 and was followed by freshman Ainslie Schultz, who finished sixth with a season-best time of 10:54.78. Marcia Backstrom also competed in the event for the first time this spring and finished eighth at 11:04.31.
Bradley dominated the shot put with four Braves finishing in the top nine in the event. Finishing behind Brannan was senior Sarah McKay, who placed fourth at 11.89 meters (39-00.25). Kim Martin was seventh at 11.13 meters (36-06.25) and Jennifer Jenkins who took ninth place at 10.69 meters (35-01.00).
Jenkins also finished third in the hammer throw, one place behind Brannan. Jenkins had a throw of 44.47 meters (145-11), while Martin placed fifth overall in the event at 41.91 meters (137-06).
The Braves return to action next Saturday at Northern Iowa
