EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- Evansville's Meaghan Flanagan hit a two-out RBI double in the bottom of the seventh as Evansville snapped Bradley's season-long three-game win streak with a 4-3 victory against the Braves Sunday in Missouri Valley Conference softball action. Bradley fell to 12-23 overall, 3-14 in Valley play with the loss, but won two of three games in the series with the Purple Aces to win its first conference series of the season.

The Braves took an early 2-0 lead, scoring twice in the top of the first inning. Freshman Trisha Kowalewski reached on an Evansville error with one out and senior Brittany Mynsberge drew a one-out walk. After a strike out, junior Joanna Pettit singled to left field to score Kowalewski and Mynsberge came around to score on a throwing error by Casey Clutch to give Bradley a 2-0 lead.

Evansville scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 3-2 lead. Brooke Luker singled to lead off the inning and advanced to second base on a one-out sacrifice bunt by Clutch. Juliet Nickelson singled to advance Luker to third base with two outs. Brittany Dehler struck out Laura Rather, but a passed ball allowed Rather to reach first base safely and Luker to score from third base. Abby Liden followed with a single that allowed Nickelson and Rather to both score as the Purple Aces plated three unearned runs in the frame.

Bradley tied the score at 3-3 in the top of the third inning on a run-scoring single by freshman Jessie Musgrove. Molly Bergeson led off the inning with a double and moved to third base on a fly ball by Kowalewski. Musgrove had a two-out single that scored Bergeson from third with the tying run.

The Aces scored the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out a 4-3 win and avoid the series sweep by the Braves. Liden was on first base with two outs after hitting into a fielder's choice. She advanced to second on a passed ball, before Cassey Kemna pinch ran for Liden at second base. Kemna scored the game winning run when Flanagan hit a double down the left field line to give Evansville the 4-3 win.

Dehler picked up all three decisions for the Braves on the weekend going 2-1 with a 0.42 ERA as she allowed four runs (one earned) in 16 and two-third innings. Dehler fell to 8-11 on the season with the loss as she struck out two and walked two while giving up four runs (one earned) in six and two-third innings.

Bradley returns to action Tuesday as the Braves play 17th-ranked Northwestern in a 3 p.m. doubleheader in Evanston, Ill.
