FORT WAYNE, Ind. ? Bradley claimed victory in four of six singles matches and swept the doubles point to post a 5-2 victory against Oakland University in women's tennis action Sunday in Fort Wayne, Ind. The victory was the Braves second consecutive win and improved the teams record to 4-10.
Junior Ashley Morris and sophomores Elise Montrose and Teri Chan each posted their consecutive singles victories, while senior Kelley Wood also earned a win in singles play to help the Braves to the 5-2 victory.
Montrose posted a 6-3, 6-2 win against Teuta Lulgjurai at #1 singles and Morris was a 6-2, 6-0 winner over Lisa Pellafone at #2 singles. Wood lost the first set at #3 singles but rallied to defeat Angela Trecola, 4-6, 6-4 (10-8), while Chan won 6-2, 6-2 against Jessica Erickson at #4 singles.
Montrose and Morris combined for a convincing 8-2 victory at #1 doubles over Pellafone and Lulgjurai. Chan and Wood also earned a win at #2 doubles with an 8-6 victory over Lauren Sanchez-Murphy and Trecola. Bradley completed the doubles sweep with a win by Katie Bowen and Jess Sampias at #3 doubles as the duo were 8-3 winners against Oakland's Erickson and Laura Blankenship.
The Braves open a three-match homestand Saturday at 10 a.m. against Drake at the Markin Tennis Courts. Bradley plays Missouri Valley Conference foe Northern Iowa at 10 a.m. on Sunday and has its final regular-season home match of the season Thursday, April 14 at 5 p.m. against Saint Louis.
