PEORIA, Ill. -- Southwest Missouri State continued its hot hitting, pounding out 13 hits as the Bears spoiled senior day for the Bradley softball team by posting a 7-3 victory in the final regular-season game for both teams Sunday at Laura Bradley Park.

SMS scored three runs in the top of the first inning to take an early 3-0 lead. Samantha Fleeman hit a one-out double to center and Michelle Armentrout knocked her home with a single to short right field. Armentrout moved to third on a wild pitch and Shannon Buslepp drew a walk to put runners on first and third with one out. Pinch runner, Katie Evans stole second and April Johnson drew a walk to load the bases, before Katie Martin belted a double to left center field that scored Armentrout and Evans to give the Bears a 3-0 lead.

Playing her final game as a Brave, senior Brittany Mynsberge got Bradley on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning with a two-out solo homer to right center. Mynsberge's homer was her sixth of the season and the 16th of her career.

The Bears got the run back in the top of the second inning. Charity Head singled through the left side of the infield to lead off the inning and stole second. Head scored on a double by Fleeman to push the SMS lead back to three runs at 4-1.

Bradley scored again in the bottom of the second inning. Senior Angela Toures hit a single to lead off the inning and pinch runner Kimberly Dobill stole second. Dobill moved to third on a SMS error and senior Sarah Mancuso drove her home with a sacrifice fly to right field.

The Bears pushed another run across in the fourth inning. A single, double and walk loaded the bases with just one out. Katie Martin lined a single up the middle that hit Bradley pitcher Brittany Dehler in the leg and allowed Fleeman to score. Freshman hurler Rebecca Bishop entered the game in relief of Dehler who had to leave the game due to injury. Bishop got out of the jam after Tricia Holiway was thrown out at the plate on a fielder's choice and Lacie Ballard lined out to leave the bases loaded as SMS took a 5-2 lead.

SMS scored another run in the top of the fifth inning on an RBI double by Armentrout to push the advantage to 6-2. Bradley pushed a run across in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by sophomore Christine Cooney, but couldn't score again in the contest. The Bears added an insurance run in the top of the sixth inning and pitcher Melissa Porche pitched out of a sixth inning jam for SMS, striking out two batters with the bases loaded as SMS completed the series sweep with a 7-3 victory.

Dehler suffered the loss for the Braves, finishing the season with a 9-19 record. Bishop broke the Bradley season record for relief appearances, making her 18th appearance out of the bullpen. Buslepp picked up the win for SMS to improve to 14-11 overall. Porche earned her fourth save, pitching the final three innings, while giving up four hits and one run.

SMS finished the regular season with a 24-23-1 overall record and 16-11 in Valley play and will be the #4 seed for next week's State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. Bradley concluded the season with a 16-35 overall mark and went 3-23 in Valley play.

Bradley's seniors combined for four of the Braves seven hits. Toures finished 2-for-3 on the day, while Mynsberge and Mancuso both went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Mynsberge's RBI pushed her career total to 106 and ranks fourth all-time in school history. Mynsberge, Mancuso, Toures and Shayna Bradford combined to go 4-for-9 in their final game as Braves. Bradley returns 13 of 17 letterwinners next season.
