PEORIA, Ill. -- Soon to be Bradley freshman Bari-Lynn Erais (Lethbridge, Alberta) won the Alberta Junior Girls Championship played this week at the Henderson Lake Golf and Country Club in Lethbridge, Alberta.
Erais won the three-round tournament by an impressive nine shots, shooting a four-over par 220. She shot a tournament-low 71 in the opening round and carded a 77 in the second round to cruise to a six shot lead. Bari-Lynn fired a 72 in the third and final round to finish nine shots ahead of second-place finisher Mary Beth McKenna, who shot a three-round 229.
With the victory, Bari-Lynn claimed a spot on the Alberta National Team that will compete in the Canadian Junior Championship August 2-4 at the Arbutus Ridge Golf and Country Club in British Columbia.
One of three newcomers for the Bradley women's golf team this fall, Erais will join future teammates Meaghan LeBlanc (Calgary, Alberta/Western Canada), Whitney Cox (Edmonton, Alberta/Harry Ainlay) and junior transfer Charlotte McGinnis (Edmonton, Alberta/Boise State) in the Alberta Ladies Amateur Championship, July 18-21. Former Bradley standout Jil Swenson will also be in the tournament field.
