Omaha, Neb. -- The Bradley upperclassmen paved the way for a strong opening day at the 2005 Omaha Collegiate Championships played at the Koch Family Tennis Center at Tranquilty Park in Omaha, Neb.
Senior Ashley Morris breezed over Nebraska-Omaha's Rachel Faulk in Flight “A” singles play posting her team-best sixth win of the fall.
Juniors Elise Montrose and Teri Chan made it three Braves into the final eight of Flight “A” by picking up their fifth wins of the campaign. Montrose recorded a dominating, 6-0, 6-1, decision over South Dakota State's Kristine Hagedorn while Chan worked her way through an up-and-down affair against conference rival and host Creighton's Nicole Thurston, 3-6, 6-2, 10-5.
Freshman Erin Krubeck made her way into the Flight “B” quarterfinals with a win over the Bluejays' Sarah Grawe, 4-6, 6-1, 10-5.
Jori Zimmerman notched the first win of her Bradley career in Flight “C” by besting Jenny Miller of Nebraska-Omaha in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
Bradley's doubles came out on top in their opening match as well with a 3-1 team victory of Nebraska-Omaha. Ashley Morris and Elise Montrose ran their doubles record to 6-1 with their win at the number one spot. Kim Braun and Teri Chan continued their solid play from the Bradley Invite in and 8-2 statement at No. 2. Jess Sampias and Jori Zimmerman made it three-of-four for the Braves as they defeated UNO's Bradfeldt and Miller, 9-8.
The Braves will be back in action in Omaha Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
