Braves Trounce Quincy 85-43 In Final Exhibition Game

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Missouri State used a 16-1 second-half run to pull away from Bradley Thursday night, as the Bears defeated the Braves 66-45 in Missouri Valley Conference women's basketball action at the Hammons Student Center in Springfield, Mo.

Bradley (5-12 overall, 1-7 MVC) held a 26-25 lead with just under four minutes to play in the half, before Kari Koch and Sarah Klaassen hit back-to-back three-pointers to open a 10-0 Missouri State run that helped the Bears to a 37-29 lead at the half. Koch scored 18 points in the opening half, including 16 points in the final 11 minutes of the period.

The Braves shot 50 percent from the field in the first half, but Missouri State connected on 6-of-11 three-point attempts in the period and held an 18-10 lead in rebounding at the break.

Bradley pulled to within six points at 44-38 with 16:10 to play, before the Braves went cold from the field. Missouri State held Bradley to just one point over the next 11:23 of play and used a 16-1 run to extend its lead to 60-39 with just under five minutes to play. The Braves committed nine turnovers and missed 11 consecutive shots during the decisive run.

Sophomore Devyn Flanagan led the Braves in scoring with 12 points and also had a career-high seven assists, but no other Bradley player scored more than seven points. The Braves shot just 21.4 percent in the second half and finished the night shooting 34.6 percent from the field for the game.

Koch posted a double-double with game highs of 20 points and 10 assists to lead Missouri State, which improved to 9-8 overall and 3-5 in Valley play. Three other Bears reached double figures with Tiff Terwelp chipping in 14 points and Klaassen and Kayli Combs both adding 12 points.

Bradley closes out a three-game Valley road swing Saturday at Wichita State at 2:05 p.m.
