ST. LOUIS -- For the second time this season, Bradley freshman forward Chris Cutshaw (Carmel, Ind./Carmel H.S.) is the Brine/Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the league office this afternoon.
Cutshaw's most recent award is in honor of his performance Saturday night at Evansville, when he scored the tying goal in the 69th minute then assisted Zach Bell's winning goal in overtime, helping the Braves (5-5-1, 1-0-0) open defense of their regular-season Valley championship with a 2-1 victory against the Purple Aces (6-4-0, 0-1-0). Cutshaw, who also was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week Aug. 28 after being voted the Most Valuable Player of the Bradley Classic, is tied with Bell for the team lead in goals (4) and points (9) through the season's first 11 games.
After opening the Valley portion of their schedule last Saturday at Evansville, the Braves will play two more conference games this week. Bradley will visit Drake (3-6-2, 0-0-0) Wednesday night, before hosting Missouri State (6-4-2, 1-0-0) Saturday night at Shea Stadium. The Braves begin the week riding a five-game Valley winning streak, just one win shy of the program record six-game Valley ride during the 1998 championship season.
