Braves, Phegley Finish Second At Bradley Fall Classic

PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior Scott Phegley lost a three-hole playoff to Creighton's John Sutko and finished second at the Bradley Fall Classic at the par-72, 6,986-yard WeaverRidge Golf Club Tuesday, while the Bradley men's golf team also placed second in its own tournament, 10 shots behind team champion Illinois State.

Phegley shot a two-under par 70 to finish tournament play tied with Sutko atop the leaderboard at 145 forcing a sudden death playoff. The duo both shot par on the 540-yard par-5 first hole and followed that with bogey's on the par-4, 388-yard sixth hole. Sutko won the playoff, however, shooting par on the 435-yard, par-4 seventh hole to claim medalist honors.

After shooting a three-over par 291 during Monday's opening round, Illinois State carded 314 Tuesday to finish at 605. The Braves were two shots better than the Redbirds during Tuesday's play at 312, but finished 10 shots back at 615. Creighton shot 316 to finish third at 620, while Wisconsin-Green Bay turned in the low round of the day at 308 and finished fourth at 624. Chicago State rounded out the tournament field in fifth place at 646 after shooting 327.

Phegley was second in the individual standings after tying a season-low with 70 in the field round. Junior Tommie Ackerman shot a 79 Tuesday to finish eight shots behind Phegley at 153, while senior Ryan Saurs tied for ninth at 155 after shooting a final round 81. Senior Brad Molitor rounded out the scoring Tuesday with an 82 and finished 25th at 168. Junior Nick Roth was four shots better than Molitor in 23rd place at 164, carding an 84 Tuesday.

The Bradley Fall Classic concluded the Fall schedule for the Braves.
