PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley forward Chris Cutshaw (Carmel, Ind./Carmel H.S.) has been named one of the top freshmen in the country by College Soccer News, landing on the web site's All-Freshman third team.
The Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year and a second-team all-league pick, Cutshaw finished second on the team with five goals and 12 points, helping the Braves (8-8-4) win a share of their second straight Valley regular-season title. Cutshaw also led the team with two game-winning goals, including one in sudden-victory overtime in the Valley opener Sept. 30 at Evansville, helping the team set the tone for their successful title defense.
Cutshaw was the only Missouri Valley Conference recognized among the 33 first-, second- and third-team College Soccer News All-Freshman honorees.
Following the graduation of two-time team scoring leader Zach Bell, Cutshaw will be the team's top returning scorer in 2007 as the Braves shoot for a Valley “three-peat.” After suffering heavy graduation losses following the 2005 season, Bradley will return the bulk of its lineup in 2007 as the Braves graduate only three players -- Bell, defender James Hedges and midfielder Mark Wallace. The Braves are slated to return 22 lettermen who combined for 80.2 percent (65 of 81 points) of the team's total offensive production in 2006.
