PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore forward Kelly Krumwiede (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) has been named the Bradley Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week and the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week, announced Thursday, after helping the Bradley women's basketball team to a 1-1 record last week.
Krumwiede posted a pair of double-doubles last week, averaging 15.0 points and 10 rebounds per game, while shooting 54.5 percent (12-for-22) from the field. She opened the week with a 10-point, 10-rebound effort to go along with two steals in the Braves loss at Valparaiso. Krumwiede followed that with 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting and also added 10 rebounds, one assist and one blocked shot in Sunday's victory against Loyola as she posted her fourth double-double in the last five games. Enrolled in Bradley's Academic Exploration Program, Krumwiede owns a 3.90 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
