Kalamazoo, Mich. ? A doubles sweep and three easy singles wins snapped a four-match slide as the Braves stopped Horizon League foe Wisconsin-Green Bay Sunday in women's tennis action at the West Hills Athletic Club in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Bradley head coach Scott Peterson got the response he wanted after unceremoniously falling to #49 Western Michigan on Saturday when his Braves started off the Sunday morning dual with a three-match sweep in doubles.
Senior Ashley Morris (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) and junior Elise Montrose (Portland, Ore./Sunset) earned their 14th win of the season over UWGB's Heather Harding and Aschley Jurgella, 8-6, at No. 1 doubles.
Junior Teri Chan (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) and freshman Kim Braun (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) cruised at No. 2 with an 8-4 win over Jennifer Tan and Megan Gregory.
Sophomore Jess Sampias (Chatham, Ill./Glenwood) and freshman Erin Krubeck (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) made it a clean sweep of the doubles with an 8-4 win of their own over Kristin Leeder and Kari Petrachek at No. 3.
The Braves wrapped up the win in singles play, coasting to three straight-set wins.
Teri Chan made it look easy at No. 3 as the Bradley active-wins co-leader picked up her 12th win of the season with a 6-0, 6-0 domination of UWGB's Megan Gregory.
Ashley Morris kept pace with Chan on the career wins list as she sealed the deal for the Braves at No. 2 singles with her 6-1, 6-3 win over Jennifer Tan for her 14th win of the year. Morris has won two of three after dropping four straight.
Jess Sampias put an end to her 10 match slide with an impressive win over Kari Petrachek, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 6 singles.
Bradley finishes their five-match road swing at 1-4 and will return to the Hilltop for a three match home-stand that begins next Sunday, February 26th when they take on IUPUI at The Clubs at River City - South, located on Altorfer Road just north of Pioneer Parkway. Admission is free for the 1 p.m. match.
