PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior women's basketball player Amy Peters (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) has named the Bradley Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week, announced Thursday after helping the Bradley Women's Basketball team to a 1-1 record last week.
Peters averaged 12.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game during last week's action, helping the Braves to a 52-43 victory against Southern Illinois. She finished with game highs of 13 points and eight rebounds, to go along with team bests of three assists and two blocked shots in Bradley's win against the Salukis. Peters followed that with a team-best 11 points in a 49-51 loss to Evansville, hitting nine of her 10 free throw attempts. A health science major, Peters owns a 3.08 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Insurance & Financial Services Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Peters and the Braves return to action Friday at 6:05 p.m. (CST) as they take on league-leading and preseason Valley favorite Indiana State in Terre Haute, Ind. Bradley plays at I-74 rival Illinois State Sunday at 2:05 at Redbird Arena.
