Carbondale, Ill. ? Throwers Jennifer Jenkins (Calumet City, Ill./Thornwood) and Kim Martin (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone) got things started for the outdoor track and field season on a light first day of the SIU Classic.

Jenkins, off an indoor season that saw her reach an NCAA provisional mark in the weight throw, was the top Bradley finisher in the hammer throw with a toss of 145-10” (44.44m), good enough for 14^th place overall.

Junior Kim Martin claimed 17^th place in the hammer throw with her toss of 143-08” (43.79m) to round out the Bradley competitors.

Saturday promises to be much busier for the Braves as 16 competitors will take part in nine events in the first outdoor event. 

Events begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
