PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley picked up singles victories at #1, #3, #5 and #6 and took two of three doubles matches to defeat IPFW 5-2 in non-conference women's tennis action Friday afternoon at the Clubs at River City. The Braves improved to 3-5 on the season with the victory.
Senior Ashley Morris picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at #1 singles for Bradley, defeating Sachi Janek. Junior Teri Chan won in both singles and doubles action, posting a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Hanna Hager at #3 singles.
Erin Krubeck and Jess Sampias were also both victorious in singles and doubles play. Krubeck was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at #5 singles defeating Jessica Vervynckt, while Sampias defeated Megan Rethlake, 6-2, 6-1 at #6 singles.
IPFW's Lisa Bartelheim earned a hard-fought 7-5, 0-6 (10-8) win at #4 singles, defeating freshman Kim Braun. The Mastadons also picked a win at #2 singles as Ashley Coulson led 6-2, 4-1, before junior Elise Montrose was forced to retire.
In doubles play, IPFW earned an 8-7 (12-10) win at #1, with Coulson and Vervynckt teaming to defeat Morris and Montrose. The Braves won the other two doubles matches, however, to claim the doubles point. Chan and Braun combined for an 8-6 victory over Bartelheim and Hager, while Krubeck and Sampias were 8-5 winners over janek and Rethlake.
Bradley returns to action Sunday at Western Illinois at 1:30 p.m.
