Women?s Golf Second After Day One At Valley Championship

WICHITA, Kan. -- Senior Meaghan LeBlanc fired rounds of 72 and 77 to finish the day in third place, and the Bradley women's golf team is in second place after two rounds of play at the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golf Championship at the par-72 Reflection Ridge Golf Club in Wichita, Kan.

The Braves held a three-shot lead following the first round after shooting 300 in the opening round of play and followed it up with a second-round 308 to finish the day at 608. Illinois State was tied with Wichita State for second place at 303 after 18 holes, but the Redbirds shot 304 in the afternoon to finish the day one shot ahead of Bradley in the lead at 607.

LeBlanc is in third place, two shots behind Missouri State's Missy Linnens and Northern Iowa's Stef Nelson who share the individual lead at 147 after two rounds. LeBlanc finished the day two shots back at 149, while Illinois State's Samantha Richdale and Samantha Sutzer of Southern Illinois are tied for fourth at 150.

Sophomore Rikki Sobel carded round of 77 and 76 to finish the first day of play tied for ninth place at 153. Junior Charlotte McGinnis shot rounds of 75 and 80 to finish two shots behind Sobel at 155. Freshman Bari-Lynn Erais is tied for 21st at 158 after shooting rounds of 76 and 82. Senior Whitney Bauer rounded out the scoring for the Braves, firing rounds of 82 and 78 to finish the day at 160.

Illinois State will enter the final day of play with a one shot lead over Bradley with a first-day total of 607. The Braves are second at 608 and hold a three-shot edge on third-place Wichita State at 611. Southern Illinois is in fourth place at 612 with Missouri State ending the day in fifth at 614. Northern Iowa will open the third round of play in sixth place at 618, while Evansville (7th - 645) and Creighton (8th - 651) rounded out the field, respectively.
